                            The Name of God

The English word, God, is a common noun which is a title of authority and is not a name. The term LORD, which is a title and not a name, is used over 6,800 times in English translations of Hebrew scripture also is not a name and which often does not properly identify the being who is being addressed.

The Hebrew consonants YHVH, called the tetragammaton or four letters, are transliterated in the Authorised Version as LORD in capital letters  and pronounced as if the word is Adonai, meaning Lord. This is an improper and misleading word. This corruption was taken from Sacred Names theology and was applied by Jews after their return from Babylon.

The ancient pronunciation was unknown but the Leningrad Codex, which is the oldest vocalized Hebrew manuscript shows the correct pronunciation to be YehoVah. YHVH is now pronounced in numerous ways approximating Yahwey, YaHovah (SHD 3068) YaHovih (SHD 3069) or Anglicized as Jehovah. See His Hallowed Name Revealed Again by Keith Johnson. http://hishallowedname.com/

We know that the name Yaho was used at the beginning of the fourth century BCE after the return of the exiles and at the construction of the Temple at Jerusalem.

The term HaShem, meaning The Name, came also from this point in time. The Stone Edition of the Chumash, preface/xiv states:

"We use "Hashem" or "The Name" as the translation of the Tetragrammaton, the sacred Hebrew Four-letter Name of God. In the commentary we frequently refer to it as "The Four-letter Name." (xxvi) … This Name is never pronounced as it is spelled. During prayer, or when it is recited, or when a Torah verse is read, the Four-letter Name should be pronounced as if it were spelled Adonai, the Name that identifies God as Master of all. At other times, it should be pronounced Hashem, literally "The Name".

In the H Danby translation of the Mishnah (second century BCE to the second century CE), we have it declared that:

"on Atonement this Name was pronounced by the High Priest as it was written and not using a pseudonym". Yoma 3:8, 6:2; Tamid 7:2.

"Pseudonym (Gr. Pvµos, having a false name), a false or invented name, particularly the fictitious name under which an author produces his work in order to conceal his identity. 1911 edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica".

                                                                                                                                      Most English translations of scripture have been corrupted by replacing the Name of God which was altered from the Hebrew consonants YHVH to the word adonai and anglicized to Yehovah or Yahwey. This word YHVH is changed to the pseudonym LORD. Every place you see the false word LORD understand it is the name Yehovah (SHD 3068). Yehovih (SHD 3069) is changed to elohim not adonai. (see the papers The Third Commandment and The Name of God).

This refusal to pronounce the name of Yehovah was commenced when the Jews returned from the Babylonian captivity and this has caused the greatest damage to translations and confusion to all in the Plan of God.

Using it as is commanded caused the murder of Messiah and is a death sentence and believed to be a removal from the resurrections or world tomorrow to all those who use it. It could only be used by the High Priest in the Temple, on the Day of Atonement, according to the false traditions of the elders.

See Mishnah (Sotah 7:6; Sanhedrin 7:5 & 8, 10:1; Tamid  7:2) and the paper Abracadabra Sacred Names

Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared Yehovah spoke to one another, and Yahovah gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear Yehovah and who esteem His name. (NASB used throughout except where noted).

Isaiah 42:8 "I am YHVH, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.

We should all be using the name YHVH Yehovah in our prayers to correctly identify the being we are calling upon or giving thanks and praise to. Our prayers may not be answered for failure to use His name correctly however it is pronounced. In Genesis and Exodus every 50th letter spells TORAH and in Numbers and Deuteronomy every 50th letter spells TORAH backwards and in Leviticus every seventh letter spells YHVH (Yahovah)

Psalm 103:1-2 A Psalm of David. Bless YHVH, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name. 2 Bless YHVH, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;

Jeremiah 16:21 "Therefore behold, I am going to make them know-- This time I will make them know My power and My might; And they shall know that My name is YHVH."

Isaiah 52:5-6 "Now therefore, what do I have here," declares YHVH, "seeing that My people have been taken away without cause?" Again YHVH declares, "Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually blasphemed all day long. 6 "Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day I am the one who is speaking, 'Here I am.'"
